“Darkened blues, darkened timbers and lower lighting… the bedroom quietens down to provide a space that links to kitchen and living area through colour and finishes, yet places an emphasis on the deeper tones to evoke a sense of sanctuary and privacy. The artwork that defines the living area moves into the bedroom and is joined by more personal framed images. A blonde shelving unit ties in with the blonde freestanding storage units in the kitchen and living area, plus provides a backdrop to the bed and privacy to the bathroom behind. This shelving also ensures the eye doesn’t stop at the bed, allowing the eye to flow and make the space feel larger. Cement pendants are dropped low over side tables for mood lighting; seats at the end of the bed can be used for throws, bags and clothing, yet also additional seating for the living area; and a lighter kilim rug defines where the living area stops and the bedroom begins with a gentle hint, rather than a strong separation.”
